If you have planned to take part in the marathon and the D-Day has come finally, let us inform you something. No matter how much you have practised or how less exhausted you would be after the run, dealing with the large crowds on the day can be exhausting. This can consume almost half your energy and enthusiasm. Marathon race does not mean just to reach the finishing point. It requires a navigation power to meet some compulsory checkpoints. Meeting these checkpoints is not only tiring but stressful as well – both mentally and physically. When you would throw yourself in the crowd and come back to the hotel room, the stress might eat you up in such a way that your sleep might break while listening to the gun sound on the TV.
Stressed after reading the first paragraph already? Don’t be. Here we are with some tips that can make your formalities hassle-free. What you need to do is to know the ways to deal with the crowds from parking to navigation, or from checking in to reach the finish line.
Parking Among The Crowds
This is a grave issue while you try to park among the vehicles of other athletes. The crowds are not only made of athletes, but there are their families and other viewers as well. But you can dodge the people easily by using some tricks.
Firstly, you can find a hotel near the starting line. That is an easy option so that you do not need to drive to the place. Secondly, you can become familiar with other athletes so that they can give you a lift to the starting point. When you are reached, just walk towards the point. Parking the vehicle is the headache for your fellow athlete, and you need not care about it. And finally, check your athlete guide provided to you by the organisers for getting an idea of the easily accessible parking lots. After that, you just need to scout the places during the night and arrive at the place as soon as possible.
You have to keep in mind that other people would be thinking the same too. So, the traffic can be a little congested. Or a lot congested? Who knows! So, it is better to hand over the duty of driving to one of your friend or a family member. So that you can jump out of the car if it is required.
There is another issue where you have to deal with the crowd is the aid stations. Everyone would be wanting to get the nutrition and hydration before the other athletes. We would recommend you to avoid the aid stations. As a result of a long practice, it is well known to you that what aids are provided in the aid stations. You can arrange your own stock of aid beforehand and use it while running. Thus, you need not spend your energy while being busy hustling with the crowds. The time of running can be saved as well.
